Wednesday March 23rd from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

for a book talk with local author Eve Lazarus!

Eve will draw on stories from her BC bestselling book Blood, Sweat, and Fear: The Story of Inspector Vance, Vancouver’s First Forensic Investigator. John FCB Vance was known internationally as Canada’s Sherlock Holmes. During his 42-year career, he helped detectives solve hit-and-runs, safe-crackings and some of the most sensational murder cases of the twentieth century. Vance was constantly called to crime scenes and to testify in court because of his skills in serology, toxicology, firearms examination, trace evidence, and autopsy. Vance’s skills and analytic abilities were so effective that in 1934 there were seven attempts on his life, and for a time he and his family were under constant police guard from criminals afraid to go up against him in court.

Bio: Eve Lazarus is a reporter and author and she hosts and produces the Cold Case Canada true crime podcast. Her books include the BC bestsellers Murder byMilkshake; Blood, Sweat, and Fear; Cold Case Vancouver and Vancouver Exposed: Searching for the City’s Hidden History.
